Common knitting abbreviations used in patterns designed by Amanda Kaffka

K: knit.
P: Purl.
St(s): stitch(es).
LHN: left hand needle.
RHN: right hand needle.
DEC: decrease.
INC: increase.
RS: right side.
WS: wrong side.
DPN: double pointed needle.
St-st (stockinette st.): knitted on WS, purled on WS.
Reverse St-st (reverse stockinette/stocking st): purled on RS, knitted on WS
WYIF: with yarn in front.
WYIB: with yarn in back.
( ): work instructions between parentheses as many times as instructed.
[ ]: work instructions between brackets as many times as instructed.
* : repeat instructions from asterisks.
CN: cable needle.
PM: place marker.
SM: slope marker.
CO: cast on.
BO: bind off.
MC: main color.
CC: contrast color.
TBL: through the back loop.
MB: make bobble.
PU: pick up sts.
RT (right twist):
LT (left twist): knit the second st on LHN, do not remove.  Knit the first st on LHN, remove both sts just worked.
K2tog: knit two stitches together (one st dec).
P2tog: purl two stitches together (one st dec).
SSK: Slip the next two stitches, one at a time as if to knit, to the right needle. Insert the left needle into the fronts of these two stitches and knit them together (one st dec).
SSK (lazy version): knit two sts together through the back loop (one st dec).
YO: yarn over
SSP: purl two together through the back loop.
PASSO: pass the slipped stitch over sts just worked.
M1L (make one left): with LHN, go front to back into bar between sts, k1 through the back loop (one st inc).
M1R (make one right): with LHN, go back to front into bar between sts, k1 normal (one st inc).
K1fb: knit one front and back into the same st (one st inc).
SK2P: slip1, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over. (two st dec).
